Went to see it last week. It's a very charming documentary about
three really old, really sweet guys. The film is basically a series
of interviews with them, about their lives which are heavily
influenced by tattoos.

You can check out some pictures from the movie at
http://www.flammendherz-derfilm.de/start.htm under "Bilder".

One of the guys (Herbert Hoffmann, the oldest German tattoo artist
still alive) has published a photography book together with the
filmmakers Oliver Ruts and Andrea Schuler called BilderbuchMenschen
(picturebook people) which is available in English at Amazon.de as
"Living Picture Books". It contains photos and stories of tattooed
people that were taken between 1950 and 1970.

So, if you can't see the movie, get the book ;).

cool! you've seen it! albert cornelissen was very funny wasn't he?
liked the bit where he was talking about the senoritas and all the
tattooed girls on his skin. sort of didn't know how much he had and
where. i also liked the remark from karlmann at his birthday party
that is was "so aufregend". really sweet.

I found the sight of him, before visiting their old house in Kiel,
wearing his best suit, tying a silk scarf with hands that almost
appeared black from all the tiny tattooed stars especially
memorable.

Anyone asking "what about when you're old" should see this.

Apparently the film was co-funded by German TV, so we can probably
expect to see it there sooner or later.

lmao. exactly! funny as well where he was trying to make this knot.
anyways, i'm dutch and although cornelissen lives in hamburg for quite
some time now i still recognise the rotterdam humour in cornelissen.
typical rotterdam attitude.

yeah for sure. my first reaction as well. and also sort of taking out
the fear of getting older. btw that eagle that hoffmann tattooed on
the other older guy with the santa beard was very nice.
